Gerard Donias (Pictured Left)
After a very competitive interview and selection process, it gives all of us at Air General great pleasure to announce that Gerard Donias has been successful and is promoted to Regional Field Director, South Region.
Previously, Gerard was our Tampa, FL (TPA) station manager for our second TPA station that exclusivley handles the ABX freighters for Amazon.com.
Gerard takes over for the position vacated by Ken Coleman who was recently promoted to Director Of Operations for Air General’s corporate office this past January.
Gerard’s broad background includes many years of International Airline experience with his base knowledge of Lufthansa, but he also knows and is a trainer for BA from his past days in ORD. He understands AA, the whole airline world in fact.
Please all warmly welcome Gerard to this exciting new position!
It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Kenneth J. Coleman Jr. to the position of Director of Operations. Ken will start his new role on Monday January 9th, 2017
Ken has been with Air General in a leadership position since his very first day in 1997. He started out in Miami running a complicated Ocean Operations “Pioneer General”. He next managed Tampa, then ran our large Charlotte Hub city for a number of years, and has more recently excelled as our Regional Field Director for the South Region. He brings with him wealth of experience in all aspects of Air General’s system-wide operations.
Prior to joining Air General he was involved in multiple interesting and challenging positions, in the CTL Shipping Line where he served duty as Port Captain, and also for a time as 3rd Officer for the M/V Phoenix Spirit. He was a Country Manager in Guatemala - he briefly owned his own Trucking company Case Transport and he has built up a very solid background in air and ocean operations. To his credit, he also helped to mastermind the Amazon start up in Tampa - where things went so well, that we were quickly awarded Allentown as a thank you gift.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Ken to his new promotion, and supporting him in all his new and exciting endeavors.
Please join us in congratulating Frank Keller on his promotion to VP Compliance! Frank joined Air General in 1999 as Assistant Director of Operations. At the time there were just three people running the entire companies operations. There are now 14 tremendously talented people working in the Home Office Operations and Compliance teams. The time was right to add our third Vice President to the company to head up the growing Compliance department and company.
As Director of Operations Frank helped Air General through many challenges, successes and significant growth over his 17 year career. His dedication to the company, creativity in solving problems, attention to detail and his unwavering support for employees and managers are just some of the reasons he has been selected for this important new role.
Initially the Compliance team will include Jeff Lyter Director Safety & Security Compliance, Chris Kubasko Manager Security Compliance, Tim Cotter Manager Training Compliance, Duncan Cobourne Manager Safety Compliance and Dennis Franco Manager DG Compliance. The team has already had their first group discussion and they are off to a great start.
Best of luck Frank, we know you will do great things in this role.
Air General is pleased to announce that Terry Hennessey, General Manager DFW will take on the new role of Manager Facilities & Implementations.

Before joining Air General Terry spent 32 years at British Airways in various roles including Customer Service Manager Cargo JFK and Director Customer Service Ramp & Passenger Service at JFK. His most recent role prior to joining Air General was Deputy Airport Commissioner for the Town of Islip on Long Island, NY.
In his new assignment Terry will manage property leases, coordinate large scale equipment purchases and plan for future facility, equipment and property requirements. He will support Finance with equipment purchase research and Operations with new station openings but primarily Terry will become part of the Business Development Team as we continue to grow and expand our business, our airline contracts and our property portfolio.

The Air General Scholarship Committee was pleased and enthused by the caliber of students who participated in the 3rd annual Robert M Maloney Memorial Scholarship Program.
Each year we award $10,000 after a competition among college-age children of our employees. The money is designated to be used strictly for tuition. We interviewed some very talented and intelligent young people, and the selection of one deserving candidate was very difficult.

Ashley attends Texas A & M University in Kingsville. A member of the National Honor Society, she has an impressive resume of community involvement and extra-curricular activities and plans to pursue a career in Veterinarian Medicine.

This is something I am extremely passionate about and to know that not only my family is doing everything they can to support my dream, but that your company has given me support to do so as well. Thank you for not only helping me, but others who want to succeed and follow their dreams as well. I wish I could have thanked you personally for helping my family and me.

Air General’s DEN Station in the news for helping Lufthansa!

The entire Air General Home Office and Station Manager Team
In March of this year, Air General finally had it’s first Manager meeting since 2011! The event was held in Orlando, FL and was attended by all from the Home Office as well as all our Station Managers. This event was critical do getting our managers to finally meet one another, network and socialize but also was an opportunity to exchange ideas on how to better Air General as whole and provide team building.
The event began with presentations from Chairman Robert Maloney Jr, President Patrick Maloney, VP of Business Development Donna Blanchard and VP of Operations Paul Siebols. Director of Operations Frank Keller and Manager of Training Compliance Tim Cotter followed up with a series of team building exercises and workshops on HR, finance/accounting and security best practices, as well as group exercises that focused on eliminating barriers to success.
On the final day the entire team of more than 50 from Air General helped the Osceola County Habitat for Humanity organization by assisting the group in two locations, one at a home that was recently built where our team braved the summer heat to paint and clean the new house, and the other team helped a local business clean out their warehouse, paint, and organize.
Overall this was a very successful event, and all of us at Air General are very proud of the participation of our managers and the thoughtful feedback we received throughout the event.
We are looking forward to holding this event again in another year or so and look forward to seeing more new faces at the next Managers Meeting!

Congratulations to all of our wonderful employees who made this award reality and to all 13 of our stations that manage cargo for United:

Air General with British Airways Cargo Managers at the Acentis facility at London-Heathrow
As many of you know, Air General has 8 British Airways/IAG Cargo operations (AUS, DEN, DFW, IAH, IAD, ORD, MCO and TPA), which is more than half of the 15 total US destinations that BA operates in.
As such, BA recognized how critical we are in the US market so they invited all our BA station managers as well as several others from the Home Office out to London for a ground handling review.
This was an excellent opportunity for Air General and it’s managers to meet with key people from BA’s London based team. They also had a bit of fun touring London and visiting BA’s massive cargo hub at London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) as well as BA’s Ascentis cargo facility.
Air General is pleased to announce that we have held our first Dangerous Goods Training Course for an outside customer, SeaCoast Aviation Air Cargo in Portsmouth, NH. Last year, IATA awarded Air General to become an IATA Accredited Training School with it’s Air General DG Academy Training Course, which focuses on Dangerous Goods by Air handling, led by Air General’s DG Academy Instructor, Dennis Franco. Air General offers this course for any organization looking to get it’s employees trained on DG handling for Air Transport. Contact us at 978-535-1304 to learn more about pricing and details.
In April of 2015, Air General was profiled by the world-class publication, Ground Handling International, for an article on the analysis of the cargo handling market in the US and Canada. Upon the retirement of President Paula Dexter after a career spanning 30 years at Air General, the company has announced today that her successor will be a third generation Maloney.
Patrick Maloney, currently Chief Financial Officer started his career in a cargo handling warehouse in Boston in 1999. He graduated from Northeastern University in 2004 with a triple major in Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship and Finance.
While rounding out his education Patrick worked as a Financial Advisor and in Information Technology before returning to Air General in 2005. The eldest son of Chairman Robert M. Maloney Jr., and grandson of the founder of Air General Robert M. Maloney Sr., Patrick has demonstrated a keen financial acumen while maintaining the same sense of fairness and loyalty to employees and customers alike.
He was named Chief Financial officer in 2008. The company grew from a small ramp handling company in 1961 to a cargo handling company which diversified to include contracts for domestic and international air freight, ocean freight and cargo screening services.
With 19 customer airlines and 23 airport locations, the team of over 700 outstanding employees diversified even further last year adding Passenger Handling Meet and Greet services to their portfolio.
Patrick and his team plan to continue their mission of providing the highest quality service to customers.
October 20th marked the day when American Airlines and US Airways completed their long and difficult integration task and began operating under a “single air waybill.” For Air General, this also means we now have 16 new American Airlines contracts around the USA. The partnership involved in Air General and American Airlines working together marked a significant achievement for both companies. We are proud to manage AA cargo in so many locations!
After over ½ century in the Cargo Handling business, Air General expanded its portfolio last year to include Air General Security, and has now announced the inauguration of its Passenger Handling Division.
Donna Blanchard, Vice President Business Development, commented: “This third division of our company represents a natural progression building upon a successful and long-term relationship with our cargo customers who value the medium-size and family value appeal of the Air General culture.” Donna, formerly the Director of Customer Service Delivery for North America and Asia Pacific at British Airways, will couple in-house expertise in international and domestic passenger handling with proven techniques for hiring the right people to offer the special soft skills required to safely and efficiently guide passengers through the airport process.
Paul Siebols, Air General Vice President Operations, is currently serving as Vice-Chair of The National Air Transportation Association (NATA). Air General has been a member of the NATA Airline Services Council for many years. NATA is an aviation business organization fostering aviation education, safety and supports aviation activities.
Air General is pleased to announce the appointment of Donna Blanchard to the corporate level position of Vice President Business Development.
Donna brings with her over 30 years of airline related experience. She has held various cargo and passenger management positions during her extensive career with British Airways, including Cargo Director Midwest, Regional Director Mid-Atlantic Airports, Vice President Call Management, and most recently as Director, Customer Service Delivery North America & Asia Pacific.
A graduate of Georgetown University, with an MBA from Central Michigan University, Donna is a pilot and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. A native of Long Island, New York, she currently resides in Pittstown, New Jersey with her husband.
2011 marks Air General’s 50th Anniversary in the cargo handling business. We are very proud of our heritage and how far we have come in this time. Started at Boston’s Logan International Airport by Robert M. Maloney, fondly known as “The Chief”, we have grown from one operation to now 18 operations in 15 cities nationwide. We perform both domestic and international air cargo handling, ocean cargo handling, mail handling, line haul and various other specialized handling for the airline industry. We moved our home office to Portsmouth, NH in February of this year.
